Average Earnings of Greater Oshkosh Area Employees on the Rise

OSHKOSH, WIS. (November 25, 2019) –The Oshkosh-Neenah Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) unemployment rate was 2.7 P percent in September 2019, up 0.5 percent from September 2018.  Wisconsin had an unemployment rate of 2.9 percent while the U.S. unemployment rate was 3.3 percent, not seasonally adjusted. 

The Oshkosh-Neenah MSA had the sixth lowest unemployment rate out of twelve MSAs in the state in September 2019. Madison had the lowest with 2.3 P percent followed by La Crosse-Onalaska/Sheboygan (2.4 P percent), Wausau (2.5 P ), and Appleton (2.6 P ).

The total Civilian Labor Force in the Oshkosh-Neenah MSA dropped from 92,097 in September 2018 to 91,884 P in September 2019, a 0.23 P percent decrease.  Over that same period, the total number of unemployed persons rose 26.0 percent, from 1,997 in September 2018 to 2,517 P in September 2019. 

Since September 2018, the Oshkosh-Neenah MSA has added 600 jobs in Private Service Providing and 500 jobs in Goods Producing. Manufacturing, Trade, Transportation, and Utilities, and Professional and Business Services each added 300 jobs over the last year.  

The average hourly earnings of all employees in the Oshkosh-Neenah MSA was $ 23.87 in September 2019, a 5.15 percent increase from 2018, and the average weekly earnings of all employees was $ 790.10, a 1.48 percent increase from 2018.
